Metope # 30, however, is one of the least successful with an unconvincing interaction of figures (n.b. the ineffectual right hooks of both Lapith and centaur). Also, the expression on the centaur ‘s face is kindly and patronizing – rather inappropriate for the context. In addition, note the lack of muscle definition in the Lapith ‘s bent left leg, which makes it look like a folded sausage. This sculptor still has much to learn !
