First oil painting

van Eyck (Jan and/or his brother Hubert) are credited with inventing oil painting in 1410 but in Cennini “Il Libro dell’Arte” 1390-1400 he mentions oil painting on panel in Chapter 89 “as the Germans are much given to do”
